My cute kids! (minus one)

This week we've been learning about the Pilgrims. You may ask why we didn't study them in November? We First-graders at Cornerstone Christian Academy study history from Creation to Modern man, sequentially. Our focus was more on Old Testament events, so we're zooming through American history these last few weeks.
Abigail (second Pilgrim girl from left) and Sarah (far right) were quizzing themselves with Math flash cards last Friday. I overheard a wonderful conversation that went something like this:
Sarah: Abigail! You're doing so well. You've not missed ANY! We just need to stop and praise the Lord!!
Abigail: You're right! Praise the Lord!
Sarah: Okay, next. 8+6 equals...?
Abigail: 14!
Sarah: Right, Abigail.
Abigail: Praise the Lord!!
Sarah: 9+7 equals...
Abigail: 16!
Sarah: Right, good job!
Abigail: Praise the Lord!!!
And so on they went for another 5 minutes, practicing Addition facts and praising the Lord for giving them good brains.
"A man can have nothing unless it has been given him from heaven" John 3:27

That's so wonderful. And here I was reminding myself that it was okay if we didn't end up there... Now you're making it harder. ha ha

Note to self: keep saying: it's okay, it's okay, God is in control.

Seriously, it is so good that they are, in ways sometimes small and sometimes big, really getting it.

I have to say that I have been secretly reading your blog. I have been greatly encouraging by the stories about these children beginning to grasp the giant truthes of our God. Thanks for posting these great stories. You and Ben have a thing for these stories eh?
